A quadrilateral is a four-sided shape with four angles. In the figure shown below, the quadrilateral is labeled ABCD. The four sides of the quadrilateral are labeled AB, BC, CD, and DA. The four angles of the quadrilateral are labeled A, B, C, and D. Each of the four sides is connected to one another, forming a closed shape.
Types of Quadrilaterals

There are several types of quadrilaterals, depending on their properties. Some of the most common types of quadrilaterals include the rectangle, square, rhombus, trapezoid, and kite. The quadrilateral shown in the figure below is an example of a parallelogram, which is defined by having two pairs of parallel sides.
Properties of Quadrilaterals

Each type of quadrilateral has its own set of properties. For example, the properties of a parallelogram include having opposite sides that are parallel and equal in length. Additionally, the angles of a parallelogram are equal in measure, and the diagonals of the parallelogram bisect one another.
Applications of Quadrilaterals

Quadrilaterals are used in a variety of applications, ranging from construction and architecture to engineering and mathematics. For example, in architecture, quadrilaterals are used to construct buildings, bridges, and other structures. In engineering, quadrilaterals are used for the design of roads, bridges, and other infrastructure. In mathematics, quadrilaterals are used to solve problems involving area, perimeter, angles, and other measurements.
Quadrilaterals are one of the most common shapes found in nature and can be used in a variety of applications. Different types of quadrilaterals have their own unique properties, which can be used to solve a wide range of problems. The quadrilateral shown in the figure above is an example of a parallelogram, which has two pairs of parallel sides and equal angles.
