Understanding Fractions with Julia and Her Frogs

Julia is a young girl who loves learning and exploring the world around her. Recently, she has been learning about fractions and how to use them in everyday life. What Are Fractions?

What Are Fractions?

Fractions are a way to represent parts of a whole. When you have a fraction, the top number is the numerator and the bottom number is the denominator. The numerator is the number of parts you have and the denominator is the total number of parts in the whole. For example, if you have half of a pizza, the numerator would be 1 and the denominator would be 2.

Julia was given a fraction of 2/5 and told to figure out how many frogs she had. She quickly realized that the fraction 2/5 represented two out of five parts. Since the denominator was five, she knew that the total number of frogs she had was five. She then divided five by two to figure out that she had two frogs.
